This Network Engineer position will be responsible for network security and secure connectivity Virtualized solutions on a DOD network. As a member of a team, a network engineer will provide support in the research, design and testing of virtualized network solutions for a DOD customer. This position is headquartered in the San Diego, CA area. This is an on-site position with no teleworking option at this time.

Primary Responsibilities:

Troubleshoot highly complex firewall and network environments
Harden systems using DOD STIGs and procedures
Engineering custom connectivity options based on customer requirements
Consulting with customers on best practices and options
Documentation of complex technologies and topologies
The ability to think outside of the box when considering engineering solutions

Requirements
Required Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor’s of Science Degree from an accredited college or university.
Six to ten years of relevant IT work experience with at least half in a DOD environment
Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), or Voice Professional (CCVP), or Wireless (CCNP Wireless), or Network Security (CCSP)
Security+, CASP or CISSP certification.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience

Linux+ or RHCE certification
VMware VCP in DCV,NSX or ESXi
Master’s of Science Degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience working on ADNS and/or CANES systems
Current Security Clearance or the ability to get one

Required Skills and Knowledge

Extensive knowledge of TCP/IP, including application knowledge
Network Security skills: Firewall, IPS/IDS, Malware Detection, Cisco ASA/NGFW, Palo Alto FW
Network Engineering and Troubleshooting skills
Routed/Routing Protocols: BGP, OSPF, VRF, VPNs, TRUNKING
Enterprise Security Policy knowledge and best practices

Preferred Skills and Knowledge

Enterprise Security Policy knowledge and best practices
Knowledge of DIACAP/RMF audit process
Application Traffic Analysis, Wireshark
Ability to work in a team environment
Development/Automation experience
Strong working familiarity with Cisco IOS with hands-on experience configuring Cisco routers, switches and firewalls.
Experience with Bluecoat PacketShaper or Riverbed Steelhead
Experience with NSX, OpenDaylight, or any other SDN solutions.
Linux scripting, Power Shell and other automation scripting.
