Currently, we are looking for a Lead Engineer to join the ABF Freight team. Your responsibilties would include research, design, and developing capacity and demand planning models to improve ABF’s forecasting, costing and operational efficiencies.

Your contribution may include:

Analyze relationships between company assets and current and projected business levels. Company assets include equipment, manpower, technology, and facilities
Mathematically model and provide internal guidance on network capacity and demand trends
Create and establish automated engineering tools to provide greater autonomy to corporate and field level management
Research and evaluate new technologies, methods, and equipment to enhance operational efficiencies and reduce cost
Analyze costing inputs and methodologies and provide operational guidance for ABF’s shipment level costing model
Evaluate measurement systems for the continual improvement of ABF’s processes and procedures
Communicate findings to appropriate personnel to aid in the everyday and future decision making process
Perform ad-hoc projects on analytics as required by VP’s or other department heads
Utilize knowledge and understanding of the quality process, Lean Six Sigma, and be able to apply tools or technology in business cases
Maintain a positive attitude in a highly intense environment
Work in a team setting to accomplish departmental goals
Other duties, as assigned

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or other technical field, required
Graduate degree in Industrial Engineering, or MBA preferred
Two years’ experience in engineering and/or transportation logistics field, required
Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification, preferred
Understanding of engineering principles and statistical concepts
Familiarity with freight loading and delivery concepts, LTL networks, and policies and procedures
Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, SQL, and other tools to execute analysis and manage projects
Must be detail oriented and enjoy a fast paced, multi-tasking, customer service minded environment
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Must display a sense of urgency, ability to work under pressure, and pay attention to detail
Ability to travel, as needed
