Headquartered in beautiful Golden, Colorado, we design and manufacture a full line of laser machines targeting home hobbyists, high volume manufacturing, and everything in between. We are looking for someone who has both a solid background in web development and strong ambition to lead a new initiative in how customers interact with laser technology through a web-based graphics application. As the first web developer on our engineering team, you will play a key role in defining the architecture of the web-based experience, have ownership over products from APIs to UX, and work closely with the firmware and application engineers to integrate this new software with our machinery.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Select appropriate technologies and architectures to implement a web user interface.
Design, implement, and test the web-based graphics application.
Implementation and maintenance of the backend services and APIs that connect to the internal API/services of our machinery.
Document design details for internal consumption.
Communicate with other departments for feature development and documentation.
Work collaboratively to design simple, yet sophisticated, customer experiences.
Utilize modern technologies and best design practices for site performance and user experience.
Optimize and troubleshoot arising issues.
Other related duties as assigned

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
Advanced level experience with ES6
Familiarity with 2D drawing technologies e.g. SVG, canvas, WebGL
Ability to build products from inception to release
Positive attitude; ability to tackle projects independently as well as work collaboratively and iteratively in a multidisciplinary team environment
Skilled at maintaining code best-practices, documentation, and version tracking
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong organization and planning skills
Passion for high-quality user experience
Demonstrates initiative and follow-through with high attention to detail and polish
Ability to define and architect appropriate client-server relationships
Desired: Working with embedded devices
Desired: Image processing and/or Open CV
Desired: Apache Thrift or similar RPC library experience
